Common questions
What does Selah need to run?
A Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. It works best on a MacBook with a notch, and on any other display it shows a small pill at the top of the screen instead.
Can I see the prayer screen right now?
Yes. Click the Selah icon in the menu bar, or right-click Selah in the Dock, and choose Pray now. The prayer screen opens straight away. Choose Begin to pray, or Not now to close it; closing it changes nothing about when your next prayer is due.
Where is the island? I can't see anything.
By default, at rest, Selah draws nothing beside the notch so it never covers a menu-bar item. It appears a few minutes before prayer is due. Open Settings from the menu bar icon, the Dock icon, or by right-clicking the island, and change Idle shows to Ring and minutes if you'd like a small countdown at all times.
How do I change how often it reminds me?
Settings → General → Rhythm. Choose how often you pray (15 to 60 minutes), how long before it is due the nudge appears, and how many times you can snooze.
How do I quit Selah?
Right-click the island, or use the Selah icon in the menu bar or Dock, and choose Quit.
How do I send feedback or report a bug?
In Selah, choose Send Feedback… from the menu bar icon or Dock menu, or use the link at the bottom of Settings. It opens a short form in your browser. You can also email selah@duseb.pro.
Does Selah collect any data?
No. Everything stays on your Mac and the app never connects to the internet. See the privacy policy.
How do I reset or delete my history?
Quit Selah, then delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.blaisebagabo.selah in Finder (Go → Go to Folder). Your settings and streak history start fresh the next time you open it.
Is Selah a Bible study app?
No. When it is time, it shows one line of Scripture from the King James Version, you pray, and it gets out of the way.
